Measurement relies on constant access to reflector prisms with known locations where a laser instrument is aimed at the prism and a reflection gives the instrument the fix point it needs. If the prism is not available due to water droplets, fog or ice, the instrument will not receive an accurate, if any, reflection back.
To eliminate this problem, the Straightwater Heated Prism Chassis is heated with a precisely regulated heating element that will prevent any water pooling on the prism surface.
The heating can be powered either by providing 12VDC or by a battery system charged by a solar panel.
The heated prism chassis is controlled by a system controller that comes in two versions, a simple one for continuous mode where the heater is powered by a mains-connected power source, and a more advanced version where the heater is powered by a battery system charged from a solar panel.
The solar powered version uses a highly efficient charge controller with MPPT algorithm to get the most power from the sun even during the darker months of the year. This version comes with a scheduling feature where users can decide when the heater should turn on and for how long (if powered by battery) or whether it should be in continuous mode (if powered by a 12V power supply).
The solar panel comes without legs and mounting hardware.
